Notice about 2020 Tax Rates
*Please note the stated proposed tax rate in these notices above should be considered a maximum, or "not to exceed" rate at the time of notification deadline. Now, after additional values have been received from the Denton County Appraisal District and recalculation of these numbers, our proposed tax rate per staff recommendation is even lower at $0.16788 - an increase of $0.00770 from last year’s rate. The budget has been prepared with the proposed tax rate of $0.16788.
This year’s levy to fund maintenance and operations (M&O) expenditures exceeds last year’s maintenance and operations (M&O) tax levy. The proposed tax rate will effectively be raised by $0.01037, or 9.05%, and will raise taxes for maintenance and operations on a $100,000 home by approximately $10.37.
The Westlake Town Council is planning to vote on the tax rate at the same meeting following the September 14 public hearing and discussion. The Town Council will also vote on the FY 20-21 Westlake Operating Budget at this same meeting.
This meeting agenda will be posted here a minimum of 72 hours before the meeting date and it will follow the Board of Trustees meeting at 5:00 pm.
