Fire-EMS

12-Westlake

The Westlake Fire-EMS Department strives to provide our residents, business owners, and visitors with the highest level of professional service. We are a progressive department that aspires to continually improve the quality of service that we provide in the areas of fire, rescue, medical emergencies, hazardous materials incidents, and other emergency services. We pledge to serve the Westlake community with dedication, compassion, and excellence.

Westlake Fire-EMS Department includes a staff of fifteen Firefighter/Paramedics and several part-time Firefighter/Paramedics in the Operations Division, and three Administrative Staff positions. The Operations Division is staffed by five positions per shift, covering an engine and ambulance. There are three 48-hour shifts. Currently, there is only one fire station, located at 2000 Dove Road, providing emergency services coverage for the entire town.

The department is comprised of four divisions:

  • Operations
  • Risk Reduction
  • Business Services
  • Emergency Management

Responsibilities of the Fire-EMS Department include, but are not limited to, the following primary areas:

  • Fire Suppression
  • Emergency Medical Services
  • Hazardous Materials Mitigation
  • General Emergency Response
  • All Hazard Risk Reduction
  • Emergency Management

We would like to extend an invitation to all of our citizens to stop in and visit the firehouse. If I can be of any additional service to you on behalf of the Westlake Fire-EMS Department, please do not hesitate to contact me at (817) 490-5780.

Respectfully,
John Ard, Westlake Fire Chief

CodeRED - Keeping Citizens Safe & Informed

CodeRED is an emergency notification system for the Town of Westlake to utilize during emergencies such as severe weather warnings for tornadoes, high winds, and severe hail storms. The Emergency Notification System is generally used in conjunction with outdoor warning sirens. It may further be used for missing children or elderly or a special community announcement.

In addition, a resident has the option of receiving the CodeRED Weather Warnings direct from the National Weather Service for several types of weather events. However, this is not to be confused with the CodeRED Emergency Notification System which is not an optional choice upon subscription. There is no fee for this service and multiple telephone numbers (including your cell phone number to receive text messaging), addresses, and emails may be entered for the subscription.

If you have not been receiving notifications and want to sign up, click on the CodeRED link here, in the left-hand sidebar of page or on our homepage. Those citizens without internet access may call (817) 490-5780, Monday-Friday, from 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. and relay their information over the telephone. Check with your neighbors to help spread the word, especially if you know they do not utilize the internet, emails, and/or computers frequently.

Westlake installed new warning sirens in 2015 at Davis Blvd./Dove Road, Ottinger Road at Westlake Academy, and Roanoke Road near TD Auto Finance. It's important to note the primary purpose of these sirens is to warn our citizens when outdoors of impending severe weather.

While many may not be able to hear the sirens inside their homes, our CodeRed notification system serves as an effective notice while indoors. Regular monthly testing of the warning sirens is conducted the first Wednesday of each month at 1 p.m., except during periods of severe weather threats.

Should you need further assistance regarding CodeRED, please call our Westlake Emergency Management Office/Fire Station at (817) 490-5780.

Community Assistance

  • Westlake Fire-EMS crews lead the town in an annual toy/food drive to benefit Christmas is for Children each year. Please consider donating a new, unwrapped gift for children of all ages during the holiday season. Additionally, the fire department also collects canned/pantry food items as well. All toys and canned goods can be delivered to the Westlake Fire Department at 2000 Dove Road, Westlake, TX once the designated dates and times are posted for that current year. We hope you will consider joining us each year as we help bring joy to a child this holiday season through Christmas is for Children. Thank you for your continued generosity!
