Prayer vigil tonight at Keller PD

police badge

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Dallas Police Department, Dallas Area Rapid Transit Police, and families and friends of the fallen officers and those injured. To honor the lives lost, a prayer vigil is being organized for 6 p.m. tonight at Keller Police Department, 330 Rufe Snow Drive in Keller. The public is welcome, and you are invited to wear blue to show support.

Keller PD is overwhelmed by the support they have received today from citizens - "in food and flowers, in signs and cards, in kind words and teary eyes."

In addition, we thought you might like to see the email that Chief Michael Wilson sent to the officers this morning:

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Dallas and D.A.R.T. Police Departments and everyone else impacted by the events that unfolded in Dallas last night. The actions of a few cannot be allowed to define the many. When events like this happen, it is easy for police departments to circle the wagons in an attempt to protect themselves. This is the last thing we should do. Even though the events did not occur in our city, our citizens, business owners and visitors are impacted. We must remain vigilant and engaged as everyone goes through the healing process.
"When a storm is coming, all other birds seek shelter. The Eagle alone, avoids the storm by flying above it." I believe our attributes as an organization will allow us to do the same. So we will choose to rise above the fear and hate that brought on these attacks and engage our community and continue to work to foster strong partner relationships as everyone processes this event and begins the healing process. As we have seen this morning through the tremendous support and kind acts of our community, we are not in this alone. If you get an opportunity, please take a moment to pay it forward and let our citizens know how much we appreciate their thoughts, prayers and continued support.

Be aware and stay safe.
Michael Wilson, Chief of Police
